I live in sweatpants and sweat sets. I just wanted to make a quick list of some sustainable brands that are not green washing. A lot of brands say that they are moving towards sustainable clothing efforts but are actually still hurting the earth. Many brands contribute to fast fashion by pumping out new styles every week and not utilizing the recyclable materials readily available. Some of these brands seem a bit steep on the price, but you should look at your clothing as an investment. Clothes are not something you buy for a one time wear, but an extension of your personality and who you are.

KOTN

These are the Women’s Nile Pants that are ribbed and wide leg. I love some wide leg sweatpants, but this place has it all. The prices vary from $40 for a basic tee to up to $200+ for a rockin blazer. KOTN sources their all natural fibers from Egypt where they know the farmers and know exactly how the materials are made. The craziest thing about this brand is that it is sustainable from start to finish.

“To reduce micro-plastics leached from synthetic materials, we focus on the finest natural fibres, which can biodegrade at the end of their life cycle.”

KOTN

As for the clothes, they are a sophisticated style, with a touch of the younger generation. You can find baby tees, wide leg pants, two tone garments, and comfy chill sweats. This is your one stop shop for casual, business, travel, and chilling out. My favorite part is the selection of wide leg pants. I with their unique color palette, all of the clothes on the website are designed to be worn together. They have new collections every season, bringing in elements of the art while curating beautiful pieces unique to my style.

Apres Sunday

Apres Sunday is a UK based brand taking inspiration from 90s tracksuit lifestyle. The fabric is 100% Organic Cotton which is better for the environment and our environment too. This is a colorful brand filled with fun pictures and blurbs on the sets.

“Clothing made of synthetics fibres such as polyester, nylon and acrylic are plastic fabrics made from fossil fuels, so these tiny fibres are in fact micro-plastics which build up in our environment. These micro-plastic fibres have been in every single environment including in the air we breathe and even in our cells. It is such a big problem, that synthetic clothing has been named as the largest contributor of micro-plastics to the ocean.”

They also partnered up with Greenr to offset your carbon footprint when ordering. Greenr helps to support may projects to enhance the environment and restore wildlife. As for the clothes, they have the most fun and cute sets. From matching sweat sets, to lounging shorts they got it all. Especially because their sets are made of the softest cotton, they are so durable and feel like such good quality.

Parade

Parade is more of a lingerie brand, but has some super comfy sweats and sets. They focus on the planet and keeping all of their materials sustainably sourced. This brand is more budget friendly, and I promise you it will be the comfiest thing you ever wear. I am usually not a fan of tight tops because it is too suffocating on my skin, but their tees have the best stretch without being too tight or loose. I would check out their bras too because I wear them everyday. Parade is focused on comfort and the comfort of the planets.

“We choose what’s actually best for the planet, not just what’s going to sound green on a label.”

parade

This is so important considering the insane amount of greenwashing that brands put on their labels. It is hard to know who is telling the truth unless you do a deep dive on where they get there materials. Even if you can find some sweet sweats that you like, I would recommend anything on their site.

Yes Friends.

This brand covers everything. They have a 100% water recycling system, smart employment, clean fabrics, and comfy pieces. I found some sick jackets and hoodies on Yes Friends. They have an outdoorsy retro vibe that I embody as an earth lover.

“Clothes are one of the products most at risk of being produced with modern slavery. They also produce around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions (that’s more than shipping and aviation combined!).”

Creating affordable clothes that are made with a purpose by people who care about the clothing is amazing. Their employees are paid well and not over worked. With the brand involvement in the manufacturing process from start to finish. The hoodies and jackets are so well made and durable that they could be passed down for generations.
